Rhodiola rosea (Latin name Rhodiola rosea L.), perennial herb, 10-20 cm tall. The root is stout, conical, fleshy, brownish-yellow, and has a majority of barbels on the root neck. In autumn, the flower stems are dug after withering. It grows in cold and pollution-free areas at altitudes of 800-2500 meters. It is produced in Xinjiang, Shanxi, Hebei, Jilin, and also in northern Europe to the Soviet Union, Mongolia, North Korea, and Japan. Only Rhodiola rosea contains rosavin, osarin, and rosin.
